City of Menasha Response to COVID 19

MENASHA – Effective immediately, Mayor Donald Merkes has declared a Public Health Emergency in the City of Menasha in an effort to guard against the spread of COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus disease 2019.
As of this time City Hall, Public Works Facility, and Menasha Utilities are closed to the public to minimize contact. Even though the buildings are closed to the public, most city services are available in a virtual manner, such as through e-mail, phone, mail, or drop boxes at the front of the City Center or Menasha Utility office. Absentee ballots are available at http://myvote.wi.gov or by calling (920)967-3608.
The City of Menasha’s action follows Governor Tony Evers Emergency Order #5 prohibiting mass gatherings of 10 people or more and closing many businesses across the state. Cases have now been reported in multiple counties. Because of this, City officials are taking proactive measures to minimize the effects of the virus locally.
Menasha Public Health Department is closely monitoring and responding to COVID-19 information provided by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The City Health Department is leading and activated our public health emergency response team in February in consultation with DHS and Menasha Joint School District.
The City of Menasha has also taken the following actions:
Elisha D. Smith Public Library (Menasha Library) is closed until further notice.
- Library patrons are encouraged to investigate their online library at: www.menashalibrary.org/digital . These services include eBooks, music, audiobooks, comics, and videos.

The Menasha Senior Center is closed until further notice.

- If you have health screening and wellness related questions, call: 920-967-3520.
- ADVOCAP will provide Grab and Go Lunches available for pick up at the Senior Center between 11 am-12 pm to anyone who has reserved them.
- To reserve your lunch, call: 920-450-5122 at least 24 hours in advance.
Parks and Recreation programs are cancelled until further notice. For questions, call: 920-967-3650.
Police Department: The Department is open 24/7.
- All station tours and ride-alongs for residents are cancelled until further notice.
- Officers may respond to non-emergency calls via phone conversations.
- For non-emergency questions call 920-967-3500. In an emergency call 911.
Menasha Joint School District: For questions e-mail COVID19@mjsd.k12.wi.us.
City employees should report to work as usual or contact their immediate supervisor.
“We are working closely with the CDC, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, the Menasha Joint School District, city businesses, families, and healthcare partners to limit the spread of COVID 19 and protect those at higher risk for this disease,” said Mayor Don Merkes.
Nancy McKenney, Public Health Director states, “Some people are at higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes older adults, those with serious chronic medical conditions like: heart disease, diabetes, and lung diseases. We considered older adults in our planning and implementation to limit community spread. ”
