Similar to Evidence Technicians, Officers can work as a Sensitive Crime Officer and use the position as a stepping stone towards becoming an investigator.  Officers in this role receive extensive training in investigating crimes such as sexual assault, sex trafficking, crimes against kids, and other serious crimes.  These officers have a higher knowledge on laws and potential evidence points regarding the crimes listed.

School Resource Officers typically are cross trained as Sensitive Crime Officers due to their constant involvement with kids.  There are also multiple patrol officers also trained in sensitive crimes which aides the Investigators in handling these types of cases for when they are not working.  Sensitive Crime Officers will being a case and gather initial facts and evidence before the case is forwarded to the appropriate investigator.
