There is no current statewide face covering order.

Previous Orders

January 19, 2021: Gov. Evers declared a new statewide public health emergency and issued a new face covering requirement to help stop the spread of a new highly contagious variant of COVID-19. The face covering requirement applies to individuals age five (5) and older with certain exceptions outlined in the order. The Executive Order establishing a public health emergency will expire after sixty (60) days or until revoked. The Emergency Order issuing the face covering requirement will expire on March 20, 2021 or by a subsequent superseding emergency order.

On November 20, 2020 Gov. Evers declared a new public health emergency in the State of Wisconsin as Wisconsin hospitals are operating at or very near full capacity and healthcare providers are struggling to keep up with the demand for care. Gov. Evers also issued a new emergency order requiring Wisconsin residents ages five and older to wear a face covering when they are indoors or in an enclosed space with anyone outside their household or living unit.
Both orders are effective immediately and will expire after sixty (60) days or with a subsequent superseding order.

On September 22, 2020 Gov. Evers declared a new public health emergency in the State of Wisconsin due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases among young people. Gov. Evers also issued a new emergency order requiring face coverings in certain situations for people over the age of 5. Face coverings are required to be worn whenever you are indoors or in an enclosed space, other than a private residence, and other people are present in the same room or space.
Both orders are effective immediately and will expire after sixty (60) days or with a subsequent superseding order.

July 30, 2020: Gov. Evers declared a public health emergency in the State of Wisconsin and issued an Emergency Order
 to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. This Emergency Order requires individuals over age 5 to wear face coverings when indoors and not in a private residence, with exceptions as clarified and defined in the order.
The order is effective at 12:01a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2020. It will expire on September 28, 2020 or by a subsequent superseding order.
