The overall mission of public health is to fulfill society's interest in assuring the conditions in which people can be healthy. Your city health department works to accomplish this mission by: 1) diagnosing and investigating health problems and hazards; 2) linking people to needed personal health services and assuring the provision of health care when it is unavailable; 3) informing and educating the public about health issues; 4) monitoring the health status in the community to identify health problems and needs; and 5) enforcing laws, rules, and regulations that protect the public's health and safety. The Department of Health and Family Services has determined the Menasha Health Department to be a Level 3 health department (highest level) capable of providing all necessary services to meet the needs of its residents.
