The Wisconsin Beach Monitoring Program was developed by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) performance criteria, and applies to all beaches in Wisconsin. A tiered monitoring plan is used and describes monitoring requirements for High, Medium, and Low priority beaches, and addresses when and how water samples should be collected. Brighton Beach is considered a low priority beach. Most Probable Number (MPN) is the standard measurement unit that is used to indicate levels of E.coli in beach water samples; levels should not exceed 235 MPN.

The Menasha Health Department will post a Water Quality Advisory notice at the beach should E.coli levels exceed 235 MPN.
