Building InspectionThe Building Inspection Department is requesting only digital applications and documents be submitted. The digital format needs to be in PDF format, no photos as this distorts the documents.

Building Inspection Office Hours

General Inspection hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. The Inspector's time is split between site inspections and office work but normally is in the office for permit issuance and questions Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 9:00 am and Noon - 1:00 pm. The amount of time the inspector spends in the office can be effected by the number of inspections scheduled on a particular day and other factors so these hours may vary.

Other hours may be arranged by appointment by calling 920-967-3655 or emailing ahumski@menashawi.gov During times outside of office hours, inspectors are conducting inspections and may not be available. Permits may be applied for during office hours and inspections must be scheduled at least 1-2 business days in advance.

Planning a project?
Permits are required for new structures, most remodeling projects, plumbing, and electrical work. Inspectors may be contacted during office hours if you have questions regarding building or remodeling projects. 

Projects Requiring Permits

Permit application forms can be printed, filled out by hand or computer and mailed to Building Inspection, 100 Main Street, Suite 200, Menasha, WI 54952. Alternatively, applicants can hand in permits during office hours.

Digital Plan Submission
The City of Menasha requires new one and two family homes and major commercial, multi-family and industrial projects to provide digital versions (PDF files) of construction plans and documents. This includes a site plan, floor plans, building elevations, and any state forms normally submitted at the time of permit application. The City of Menasha will use this information exclusively to maintain a digital data base of all new building and significant features in Menasha.

New One and Two Family Homes Permits
New one and two family homes are required to submit an electronic building permit through the State of Wisconsin Electronic Building Permit System as well as completing the City's permit application. Can the City of Menasha locate property lines for me?
The City of Menasha does not have available staff to locate property lines. The best and most accurate way to locate your property lines is to contact a land surveyor.

Can I see a plot map/air photo of my property?
Parcel information and aerial photos are available on the digital mapping pages for Winnebago and Calumet County.
